Supply Chain Manager

Overview:

  • Reporting to the Principal Supply Chain Manager - Supplier Development, this role will be responsible for ensuring robustness & scalability of suppliers through the development of proposals for enablement of the supply chain to support future SSNAUKUS requirements. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to conduct enablement reviews with suppliers to identify capability and capacity shortfall, develop and implement plans for supplier development/enablement or investment activity and support subsequent contracting and benefits realisation with the supply chain.
  • This role will require working across all functional areas and programmes, including internal and external stakeholders across the Enterprise to ensure the Resilience activity aligns and supports ongoing business operations and supplier strategy.
  • Additionally the role holder will be responsible for delivery of the Resilience workstreams within their area of responsibility, including governance requirements for reporting on performance.

Key Deliverables:

  • Planning, engagement and execution of a programme of supplier engagement workshops to identify critical enablement activity required to build resilience in the supply chain for future programmes
  • Development and ownership of appropriate toolsets and processes for assessment of supplier capability and capacity
  • Development and implementation of supplier enablement plans supporting business case and benefits realisation approach
  • Ensure close collaboration with wider Supply Chain Organisation at Submarines and Sector level to deconflict and align to overall supplier strategies and business objectives
  • Engaging on several levels with programmes, Marine, Enterprise and external bodies (eg ADS)

Key Skills & Experience:

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of Submarines Supply Chain and critical internal and external interfaces.
  • Requires professional knowledge gained through appropriate work experience which enables job holder to apply specialist skills to ensure essential procedures are followed and to help define the standards around which others will operate.
  • Experience and in depth understanding of supplier development principles and toolsets
  • How a business works, understanding supplier modes of operation

Skills:

  • Ability to assess supplier capability and capacity from a Business standpoint
  • Effectively manage Projects, Programmes or Portfolios and provide guidance in those areas.
  • Establish and maintain strong customer and partner relationships (internal and external).
  • Ability to build relationships at all levels both internally and externally

Qualifications:

  • Change - Six Sigma Greenbelt or above (Black Belt or MBB); LEAN training
  • Project Management - Recognised APM Qualification or equivalent experience
  • Supply Chain - MCIPS or equivalent
