Engineering Manager

I'm looking for an Engineering Manager to join one of the worlds most prestigious Aerospace & Defence organisations at it's site in Barrow-in-Furness. What you'll be doing: You will support BAES-SM production of the safety Build Assurance Justification Be able to review and ascertain the appropriateness of the Safety Argument and Safety Evidence provided by BAE and ensure that the platform is being built to design intent You will liaise with the Barrow Safety Assurance Manager on any concessions where the Platform build differs from design intent Play a key part in acting as the MOD technical liaison with Platform and Nuclear Propulsion build committees You will help to provide the safety interface with the propulsion/reactor/ships/weapons Test Groups Your skills and experiences: Be able to demonstrate strong stakeholder management skill-sets and experiences with senior board levels You will have gained programme management experience Previous experience in build assurance or maritime platforms of complex systems You will have gained good experience of technical risk management/governance procedures Hold a degree within a STEM subject The Dreadnought Alliance is a collaboration between Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems and the Ministry of Defence to deliver the 'Dreadnought Class SSBN' programme. The scope of the Dreadnought Programme is the delivery of four SSBNs to the Royal Navy to maintain the UK's Continuous At Sea Deterrence (CASD). This post is part of the Joint Design Authority within the Dreadnought Alliance, which is the Platform & Whole Boat Design Authority for Dreadnought. The salary range is £55,000 to £70,000 plus an excellent benefits package and is a hybrid-working role. You MUST be eligible for SC Clearance to be considered for this position.

About the Role As a C&I Engineer, you will: - Develop functional designs and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for C&I systems in complex propulsion, mechanical, and electrical setups, utilizing Piping & Instrumentation diagrams. - Specify instrumentation for measuring pressure, temperature, flow, and other variables based on specific process conditions. - Define remote functionality for C&I systems, including Human-Machine Interface (HMI), cable management, and interface protocols. - Design solutions that meet a wide range of standards, including functional, safety, defence, British, naval, and nuclear standards. - Assess compliance with non-functional requirements, such as EMC, shock resistance, and material standards. - Produce essential verification evidence and design documents, such as I/O schedules, instrument schedules, cable schedules, and functional design specifications. - Lead and participate in technical design reviews for C&I. Project Manager Delivery, site and facilities Barrow in Furness Based £72.57 an hour Umbrella OR £63 an hour PAYE Inside IR35 12 Month Contract initially. This is a great opportunity to work within one of the UK's leading Defence organisations based In Barrow in Furness. This role forms part of a newly created team under the project relationship that will lead on the mobilisation and integration of several elements that will provide Australia with the ability and efficiency equal to Barrow, to manufacture and produce nuclear powered submarines. This role looks at Infrastructure specifically, with a small number of peers who will perform the same role focused on the other areas bringing together the entire integration of capability. You will have line management responsibility of one employee in the form of a Technical Author who will assist on the procedure to write requirements and assure design. This role will provide you with the opportunity to develop your career within the defence industry due to exposure gained across multiple business areas. Submarines Sector experience is advantageous but not necessary; however you should bring with you either some experience of technical requirements, or experience from an infrastructure role Your success in this role will come from your ability to be inquisitive and persuasive, identifying the relevant experts on site, negotiating to get some of their time, using interpersonal skills to tap into their expertise and producing a strong requirement or technical response. Senior Planner

A leading company is looking for a Senior Planner to join their growing team within their Defence projects. This role is available on a hybrid working basis, you'll be likely to work 2-3 days in the office. The Role As a Senior Planner, you'll be ensuring the successful execution of projects within the Defence team developing project control reports and delivering project plans, maintaining project schedules whilst working alongside internal and external suppliers. Also, you'll be providing performance analysis and recommendations and identifying potential risks. The Person To succeed as a Senior Planner, you'll need knowledge and proficiency with Primavera P6. In addition, you'll need experience in working with large quantities of data alongside similar project controls environments on large projects. Due to the nature of the role current SC clearance or the ability to obtain SC clearance is required. Due to continued investment, this global business is currently looking for a Concrete Specialist - CSA to join their existing team in Plymouth (mostly remote working, onsite once every 6 weeks) on a 52 week contract. The Role As a Concrete Specialist - CSA, you will be advising the 14 Dock Readiness Project team and the Structures Technical Authority (TA), providing specialist input to concrete engineering. Your responsibilities will include but not limited to the following: Review the existing Technical Specification (CDMS-000109234) for the works, and provide any feedback on Section 7 'Reinforced Concrete' which you believe may need to be taken into account Review, comment and accept the Contractors Proposal/Structural Concrete Constituent Material Supply Report Review, comment and accept the Contractors Proposal/Concrete Validity study on the target concrete mix design Review, comment and accept the Contractors Proposal/Sensitivity study to evaluate the sensitivity of the concrete to accidental variations in batch masses Review, comment, and accept the Contractors Proposal to undertake tests to reflect these lower tolerances where the batching tolerances for the plant are significantly lower than those indicated in BS EN 206 (if applicable) You To succeed within the role of a Concrete Specialist - CSA, you'll have experience in a similar position and have the following skills: Minimum 5 years experience in the design and construction of Quality Grade 1 Class A Reinforced Concrete Structures preferably with experience working in the specialist field of concrete materials (mix development, defect remediation, site construction etc.) and specification writing A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent. Chartered Engineer, registered with Engineering Council or working towards chartership Associated with industry bodies, such as the Concrete Society or Institution of Concrete Technology would be preferential Please note that due to security nature of this role, offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining SC security clearance.
