We are looking for a DV Cleared Microsoft SQL Server DBA to join the existing team in London on an initial 10 month contract, 4 -5 days in office in London.

You will be required to provide DBA support on all aspects of Microsoft SQL Server including design, administration, backup/recovery, Availability Groups, deployment and real time production troubleshooting responsibilities for SQL versions SQL2014 upwards.

As a Microsoft SQL Server DBA, your responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Install and configure Windows Clusters, Microsoft SQL Servers and Availability Groups
  • Maintain and troubleshoot High Availability/DR including Windows Clustering and Always On Availability Groups
  • Conduct root cause analysis, database performance monitoring, and capacity planning
  • Performance tuning of databases/queries
  • Implementing and managing monitoring/proactive alerting processes
  • Automation via SQL Server Agent and PowerShell scripting etc
  • Participate in key periodic operations tasks including high availability and disaster recovery testing, operating system and database patching, database upgrades and migrations
  • Provide comprehensive and clear documentation for all new database builds, redevelopments, enhancements, for standard operational procedures
  • Collaborate with Developers to architect DB solutions for core platform initiatives
  • Working independently and within a wider team with minimal supervision
  • Attending and actively participating in SCRUM ceremonies and events
  • Ability to be proactive, multi-task and stay organized in a dynamic work environment

To succeed within the role of a Microsoft SQL Server DBA, you'll have experience in a similar position and you'll have the following skills and experience:

  • Strong knowledge of SQL Server High Availability technologies - such as Windows Clustering, Availability Groups and Distributed Availability Groups
  • Windows Clustering
  • Enterprise scale mission critical SQL Server implementations, VLDB, multiple databases with Availability Groups
  • Implementing and troubleshooting SQL Server High Availability groups
  • Troubleshooting SQL Server Database Engine
  • Root cause analysis, database performance monitoring, and capacity planning
  • SQL Server migration and upgrade
  • SQL Server backup and recovery
  • Indexes and Statistics
  • SQL Server patch management
  • PowerShell Scripting
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English
