Duration: 12 Month contract initially

Rate: £61.63 pe rhour umbrella

Overview:

  • A manager with extensive knowledge of Project Management gained through experience.
  • A manager of qualified professional employees typically running a medium-sized project, or a work package within a larger project.
  • Early project lifecycle experience / bid management favourable

Key Deliverables:

  • Manage project scope to ensure that all aspects are fully defined to ensure customer requirements are achieved as well as ensuring the accurate recording and reporting of progress of planned targets for budget, schedule and quality.
  • Responsible for the financial performance and risk management of their project scope
  • Management of a multi-disciplinary team in a project environment
  • Manage and support Customer / Stakeholder groups through reviews and progress meetings
  • Manage negotiations / dispute resolution with Customer / Stakeholder / Sub-Contractor
  • Deliver regular briefs at a senior level for the project
  • Translate contracted requirements into a complete and coherent plan of the work to be performed, including a schedule, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Organisation Breakdown Structure (OBS), work packages definitions, resource plan and associated documents
  • Implement and refine as necessary, project planning to ensure appropriate task and budget flow down and monitoring of achievement both within the project team and for external providers
  • Provide regular plan / schedule updates including earned value monitoring, estimates to completion and preparation of inputs to Control Account Manager (CAM) and Contract Status Report (CSR) reviews
  • Ensure the projects requirements are formally captured and configured including the means to record and manage head and sub contract alignment
  • Lead the planning and preparation for Phase Reviews
  • Produce and maintain the project management plan for current and future phases of the Project /Programme
  • Lead on resourcing issues, including maintaining a resource plan
  • Manage subcontractor & vendor management
  • Develop and maintain the coherent, fully integrated and project plans, budgets and work breakdown structures.
  • Control and monitor assigned projects so that they are delivered to agreed time, budget and quality, regularly reviewing and reporting on progress against plan.
  • Lead the production of programme plans and monitor performance and emerging trends to identify and resolve variances and issues.
  • Build and maintain effective liaison with all functional groups involved in project delivery to enable all functional, quality and other requirements of projects to be delivered.
  • Lead, develop, support and motivate reporting and staff to ensure that they are aware of and capable of delivering their work scope.
  • Lead the development of policies and procedures in assigned areas, ensure that all relevant policies and procedures are adhered to by reporting staff or on allocated projects and that they are carried out in such a way as to minimise risk.
  • Coordinate the collation, documentation and transfer of project LFE (Learning From Experience)
  • Provide advice and recommendations to senior programme managers and directors to support decisions

Key Skills / Experience:

Experience:

  • Experienced professional with extensive knowledge of Project Management (tools, techniques, practices) and basic knowledge of other functions such as Commercial & Finance.
  • Able to develop innovative solutions to complex issues in a wider Business context.
  • Extensive understanding of the Business environment for own project and team.
  • Recognised as an experienced Project Management practitioner.

Skills:

  • Demonstrates good commercial practices & how it integrates within own project area.
  • Developed communication and diplomacy skills.
  • Able to persuade and influence internal & external stakeholders, sometimes at senior levels internally.
  • Controls resources and policy formation in wider area of responsibility.
  • Limited guidance needed from seniors.

Qualifications:

  • University level education or professional qualifications gained through industry.
  • Professional PM Qualification or years of practical experience gained through application of Project Management.
