Would you like to join an international defence company to support their clients by improving the capability, reliability and availability of their most critical assets? Due to continued investment, this global business is currently looking for a SDDP Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their existing team in Plymouth (hybrid working, mostly remote working, onsite once a month) on an initial 12 month contract.

The Role

As a SDDP Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will operate as part of the Strategic Infrastructure Business Unit. Your responsibilities will include the following but not limited to:

  • Lead and manage one or more technical design packages agreeing project related objectives, managing designer performance and making appropriate technical management responses. Provide Subject Matter Expert advice as per discipline.
  • Ensure that the design documentation covers the scope of operations required by the Project Manager and is produced to agreed standards, schedule, and budget.
  • Plan for effective project implementation, identifying key factors and leading the project's technical planning process.

In addition, you will also ensure that staff and contractors are familiar with the hazards and risks associated with the work undertaken by the delegated engineering team through effective management and that the processes and activities being managed are appropriately documented with appropriate records maintained and configuration and quality controls applied.

You

To succeed within the role of a SDDP Senior Mechanical Engineer, you'll have experience in a similar position and have the following skills:

  • A degree in an appropriate engineering discipline
  • Chartered Engineer, registered with Engineering Council or working towards Chartership
  • Nuclear Introductory Course or equivalent nuclear and/or marine system knowledge
  • Alternatively, experience in other safety critical plant/process design would be considered.

Please note that due to security nature of this role, offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining SC security clearance. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and will require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer.
