JAM Recruitment are working in partnership with a market leading manufacturing business based in Telford in the search for a Production shift Manager to join them on a permanent basis at a time of exciting business change and ambitious plans for growth

The Shift Manager will be responsible for managing all staff and operational areas in line with key business policies, procedures and applicable legislation. Your team will be responsible for producing quality products which meet customer requirements on time and to specification in a safe and efficient manner to agreed cost standards.

This role is working on a rotating shift pattern (7am to 3pm, 3pm to 11pm, 11pm to 7am) Monday - Friday, currently one week but changing to two weekly rotation.


You will be responsible for:

  • Leading and engaging all manufacturing related employees on shift
  • Management of personnel in line with company procedures such as absence, performance and disciplinary policies.
  • Managing and scheduling the throughput of the production department
  • Monitoring, measuring and reporting on production related process performance
  • Analysing performance data and implement actions to correct areas where targets have not been achieved
  • Managing and evaluating machine resources to ensure productivity, with minimal downtime.
  • Advocating for Continuous improvement within the shift
  • Collaboration with others shifts to ensure consistent approach to day to day tasks along with the implementation of improvements.
  • Ensuring all employees are following industry standard health & safety guidelines, the good housekeeping policy, and ensuring that lean manufacturing protocols are adhered to.
  • Analysing and improve current production processes to ensure maximum efficiency
  • Liaising with production planning to ensure the production plan is adhered to and fulfilled and labour is allocated effectively in line with this.
  • Attending and actively contributing to H&S, Quality and Production Planning Meetings, ensuring any actions are appropriately delegated and completed.
  • Flexible to cover / deputise for other management roles, within incumbent's capability
  • Leading meetings for your areas of responsibility (SQDC, KPI etc)

You will have:

  • Proven experience of press manufacturing
  • Experience of managing a team
  • Strong motivational skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • FMCG / food packaging background (highly desirable but not essential)
